Adam Pedersen-Doherty – New York

Where did you grow up?
Hamilton, NJ.

Where do you live?
NYC,

What is your personal soundtrack at the moment?
Scott Matthew’s There Is An Ocean That Divides And With My Longing I Can Charge It With A Voltage Thats So Violent To Cross It Could Mean Death.

Your star sign?
Virgo

Who is your style icon?
Well, I guess I never really thought about it that way. I am really intrigued by concepts and representations of masculinity, and the power and privilege afforded them. I like to blur the lines, challenge them and nestle myself somewhere uncomfortably in-between — butch/femme/top/bottom. For me, fashion is more performance than imitation, like the performance of the everyday…though I don’t think performative and imitative are oppositional. So can I say masculine women and feminine men, because that’s my short answer? Either that or fetish porn.

What do you do or what would you like to do when you grow up?
I’d like to open an antique shop and maybe found a queer commune. I’m into collecting, free love and country living.

He’s got great style and such an easy casual look. I love what he has to say about his style icons. He’s also so freaking hot!

I’d like to see Adam photographed in Summer. More flesh! So handsome!

I have been following your site for a while now (from blog version now to this new one). You sure feature interesting people always shot in a comfortably casual manner but what I also like about your photos are the surroundings you usually place your subjects in. Just sort of rundown, worn and rusty decadence I find so inspiring! I always try to insert something similar into my own drawings so I’m happy whenever I see someone else doing it in their art. Kudos, man :)

LOVE the BEARD! I was growing mine out and the husband took a picture of me. I wasn’t liking it and trimmed. Adam has given me inspiration to get past that in-between growth period!

And… LOVE the new page layout!!!!!

    Comment by Jeffrey Schneider — February 4, 2010 @ 11:00 AM

The page layout brings me even more inspiration with the play of materials and colors, it’s perfect! Bravo! Clarisse.

I like the new site too, but liked that you could enlarge the individual pictures on the last one. I can’t really see what the subjects are wearing. Also the site doesn’t fit on one page. You have to scroll from left to right instead of just up and down. And the soundtrack answer is repeated twice on Adam’s answer. The pictures are beautiful however. I just want more!!!

I really liked being able to enlarge the photos too.

I can’t tell you how many I have downloaded and placed on my iPhone for fashion inspiration.

Would love to be able to look at and download larger jpegs!!!

I’m pretty sure I went to high school with Adam. Or I know someone who did. I mean this in the most literal way. Hey Adam – what’s up?!

Such a shame your whole archive from the old site isn’t on this one.
